We'll be sharing photos and videos from 2014 Free Fun Fridays activities here!
For now here are some from 2013.
Can groups attend?
Due to the popularity of Free Fun Fridays, we recommend that groups call their venue of choice several weeks in advance to ensure that the venue is able to accommodate them during their free day. Given the large number of participants, groups may opt to visit a site on another day to fully enjoy all of the venue’s offerings.
Are the events really free?
YES! Individuals and families can visit all participating venues for free (parking may cost extra depending on the venue).
What hours are free?
The open hours vary from venue to venue. Please see the weekly pages which can be found by clicking on a week or venue from our schedule page and/or each venue’s individual website for more details about hours of operation, directions, parking, etc.
Where can I get more information about a specific venue i.e. hours of operation, parking, etc.?
For additional information, please click on the name of an individual venue on our schedule page and you will be redirected a weekly page which contains this information. Additional information can also be found on the link to their website.
Do you have to be in any special category to get in?
No, for most venues there are no age, residency, membership, or other requirements to participate. The only exception is the Reagle Music Theatre, which requires all guests to be at least 5 years of age.
Are there tickets involved?
For most venues, there is no ticket, ID, coupon, or password required.
For some of the theatres and the Boston Harbor Islands National Park free tickets will be handed out on the day of the event do to capacity limitations. More information regarding the distribution of tickets will be available several weeks before each venue’s Free Fun Friday.
Please read the additional information in each week’s detailed page to learn more about venues with special considerations concerning their Free Fun Friday. If you have additional questions please contact Highland Street or the individual venue.

With the summer coming to an end, we at Highland Street Foundation are reflecting on how far Free Fun Fridays has come in the last six years.
In 2009, one of the ways we chose to commemorate Highland Street Foundation’s 20th anniversary was by partnering with ten cultural institutions to offer free admission during summer Fridays. We weren’t sure what the response would be, therefore we were blown away when nearly 60,000 people participated.
