About Highland Street Foundation

The Highland Street Foundation was established in 1989 by David J. McGrath, Jr., his wife JoAnn McGrath, and their five children, David J. McGrath III, Scott J. McGrath, Holly L. McGrath, Christopher R. McGrath and Sean P. McGrath. All seven McGraths were founding trustees.

David was the founder and owner of TAD Resources International, Inc. TAD was a temporary staffing company with more than 300 branches. After David’s death in 1995, TAD was sold to Adecco, the world’s largest temporary help company. With the sale of TAD, the Highland Street Foundation received the majority of its current endowment. 

Today, David Jr. & Sean McGrath continue to serve as trustees of the Highland Street Foundation board.  Since 1989, the McGrath Family and the Highland Street Foundation have contributed more than $260 million to hundreds of remarkable non-profit organizations.

The Highland Street Foundation is committed to addressing the most pressing needs and concerns for children and families in Massachusetts and California. We provide access and opportunities in education, housing, mentorship, health care, environment, and the arts.
