The mission of Camp Harbor View is to provide an opportunity for children from Boston's neighborhoods to experience the joys of summer day camp in a beautiful location right in their own city. While having the chance to participate in arts and crafts, athletics, nature study, and leadership training, they will be challenged, supported, and inspired to grow as individuals.

Citing concerns about growing violence among teenagers in many of Boston’s neighborhoods, Mayor Thomas Menino worked with Jack Connors, Jr. and the Boys & Girls Club of Boston to create an organized program where Boston youth can have a safe and structured environment to make new friends, experience new activities, and enjoy being outdoors.

The Highland Street Foundation partnered with Camp Harbor View to create the McGrath Family Aquatics Complex. With a primary purpose of providing an opportunity and venue for young people to learn to swim in a safe environment, the trustees of the Highland Street Foundation also hope that the Aquatics Complex will be a place for young people to have fun and create warm memories. The trustees look forward to watching the camp grow and develop over many summers to come.
